Set by one of Devon’s prettiest lakes – Roadford Lake – this cabin offers peace and quiet in the middle of the countryside. Days can be spent kayaking, sailing or stand-up paddleboarding on the lake, or cycling the surrounding trails. It’s a short drive to the edge of Dartmoor National Park, where hiking trails snake through the hills. There’s nothing better than unlacing your hiking boots, changing into your swimsuit and slipping into the private hot tub after a day on the trail. A rattan dining set on the terrace is the perfect spot for a tipple or two as day turns to evening and the fields around you are bathed in golden light. This is an undeniably peaceful spot. Heading inside, get the electric stove on in the living room and curl up on the royal purple sofas. The kitchen has everything you need to handle the bustle of family breakfast time, and the breakfast table sits in a sunny spot, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.
